Section 83 of Canada's Criminal Code) Calgary Boxing & Wrestling Commission: CALGARY SANCTIONS: Boxing, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Mixed Martial Arts. MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS TO BE LICENSED IN CALGARY ARE: The
following Calgary boxers are licensed in Calgary - Expiry dates noted:

As per the recommendations
of the Commission's Chief Medical Officer, the following medical
requirements will take effect as of APRIL 1/2009.
All Professional
Fighters:
Baseline CT Head or MRI
Head any date
Dilated Fundoscopy eye exam
within one year of the fight date
Baseline ECG any date
(actual tracing not just report)
Bloodwork within 6 months
of fight date: HIV, Hep B, Hep C, Syphilis
General Physical exam by
primary care physician within 1 year of fight
Amateur Fighters at
professional events:
Baseline CT Head or MRI at
age 18 or older
Baseline ECG
Bloodwork as above
General Physical as above
Fighters age 40 and
above:
All tests as for
professional fighters above
MRI brain dated within one
year of event(yearly if fighter continues to fight)
ECG within 6 months of the
fight in addition to the baseline ECG
Physical Exam within 2
weeks of event by approved commission physician (Dr. Karpman or Dr.
Thirsk) with possible additional tests as needed based on individual
needs of the fighter. NOTE: It is the responsibility of a "host" commission to verify the dates on the boxer's medical test results, and to confirm the boxer is not under either a medical suspension / mandatory rest period, or any other suspension. CONTACT:
